What Are Some of the Best Natural Treatments for Acne?

It is almost impossible not to care about your physical appearance. In fact, people go to great lengths and spend large amounts of money to improve the way the look every day. Some people overhaul their diets. Other people join gyms and spend thousands of dollars on workout wardrobes, training sessions, and all the latest exercise technology. But despite these best efforts, many people still find themselves challenged by a problem that began in high school and simply never went away: acne. Bad skin is a big problem for millions of Americans, but luckily for them there are a number of natural treatments to deal with acne. Below are some to get you started.

First, drink more water.

Yes, this is a real skincare tip. Drinking a lot of water has been proven to result in large improvements in your skin. Make sure you are getting at least eight glasses of water a day. Substitute your afternoon coffee with a hot cup of tea, or your Diet Coke with some seltzer. You will see results quickly.

Next, make sure you are exfoliating.

Exfoliating is key to beautiful, clear skin. Exfoliation refers to clearing away the dead skin cells from your face to make room for new ones. The best way to do it is to invest in a Clarasonic, which looks like a large electric toothbrush for your face. The bristles do a tremendous job of exfoliating and you need only a gentle cleanser to use with it. Avoid cleansers that have a grainy feeling – they will leave small tears in your skin. When you finish exfoliating, dry your face with a clean towel.

Also, don’t forget to moisturize!
Moisturizing is another key step in a healthy skincare regiment. Especially in the winter, when your skin is prone to dryness, make sure you use a heavy moisturizer at night and one with an SPF of at least 15 during the day. Use the moisturizer every single time you wash your face and whenever needed beyond that.

Don’t forget to get plenty of sleep.

Sleep is an important factor in your skin health. After all, the name “beauty rest” didn’t come out of nowhere. Your body needs to rest, and your skin needs it too. So get at least eight hours of sleep a night for the best skin.

Find ways to get rid of stress.

A major cause of acne is stress, so be sure to find ways to get rid of yours. Some people love to meditate, others prefer exercise – whatever your preferred method of relaxation, make sure you do it every single day. The less stress in your life, the less acne on your skin!
